Presentation at CIDOC 2012 - Enriching Cultural Heritage

CIDOC, ICOM’s International Committee for Documentation, provides the museum community with advice on good practice and developments in museum documentation. The CIDOC annual conference 2012, organised in Helsinki, was entitled "Enriching Cultural Heritage". In the framework of this conference, Lies Van de Cappelle (Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Work Package leader on digitisation supervision) presented the DCA-project.

CIDOC includes documentation specialists, registrars, computer managers, system designers, advisors and trainers. CIDOC provides a forum for discussing and providing advice on the application of documentation standards and information and communication technologies, for the gathering, management and sharing of the knowledge that has been built up in dealing with heritage collections.

Developments, achievements and visions were discussed in relation to the continuing development of the information society and its impact on the cultural heritage sector. On the 12th of June Lies Van de Cappelle presented the DCA project as a case study of a collaborative project in which different institution profiles have to be reconciled to achieve the project objectives. Besides a global overview of the project, the presentation focused on the practical tools in use, the way in which management and support take place, the consortium meetings, etc.
